DESCRIPTION:about this event\nTito Muñoz\, conductor\nMelita Hunsinger\, cello \nConcert Repertoire\nMendelssohn: Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream\nSchumann: Cello Concerto in A minor\, op.129\nMendelssohn: Symphony no. 4\, “Italian” (1834 Version) \nThe Phoenix Symphony returns to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts for a three concert series with a focus on the similarities and contrasts of the works of Mendelssohn and Schumann. Mendelssohn’s Overture to Shakespeare’s famous comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream displayed the composer’s skill at such a young age\, a piece so good it required a sequel. \nThe Phoenix Symphony’s principal cellist Melita Hunsinger will take the stage in Schumann’s Cello Concerto\, personal and emotionally lyrical\, a star in the Romantic repertoire. Inspired by the landscapes from a trip to Italy\, Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony is bright and sunny and full of dance. Join The Phoenix Symphony as Maestro Muñoz leads Mendelssohn’s revised 1834 version of this iconic work. \nThis event is a facility rental\, and is not a part of the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts performance season.
