DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nSpencer is a 2021 biographical psychological drama film directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Diana\, Princess of Wales (née Spencer)\, and follows Diana’s decision to end her marriage to Prince Charles (played by Jack Farthing) and leave the British royal family. Timothy Spall\, Sean Harris\, and Sally Hawkins also star.  \nSpencer had its world premiere in-competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 3\, 2021. It is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United Kingdom and the United States on Nov. 5\, 2021. The film has received critical acclaim\, with particular praise for Stewart’s performance.  \nTalk Cinema offers sneak previews of films personally selected by film critic Harlan Jacobson\, former editor of Film Comment magazine\, published by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Jacobson created and has programmed the series since 1992. His selections may include an award-winning drama\, an outrageous indie comedy\, a provocative documentary or the next breakout hit chosen from among new independent and foreign films from Cannes\, Sundance\, Toronto and other internationally ranked film festivals. Discussions with film scholars and special guests follow the screenings.
