Small Island Big Song invites audiences to explore the little-known cultural connections that tie a population of 400 million people living on islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans through a sensory journey guided by some of the region’s best musicians.

About the Event
Small Island Big Song invites audiences to explore the little-known cultural connections that tie a population of 400 million people living on islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans through a sensory journey guided by some of the region’s best musicians.
In this hour-long musical performance, students will experience island traditions through song and dance. Weaving their performances with multimedia and other tools, Small Island Big Song artists will explain the geography, ecology, and cultures of their oceans through music. The performance includes participatory dance and rhythmic activities, as well as an open Q & A with students.
Best for grades 3 and up.
