About the event

The Last Five Years is a raw and emotional musical that puts the truth about relationships under a microscope. This story follows two 20-something New Yorkers who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show’s unconventional structure consists of one character telling the story backward while the other tells the story chronologically. The score and the lyrics hold nothing back and the audience will be left examining their own relationships while we journey with these brave characters. 

United Colours of Arizona Theatre is committed to serving BIPOC communities within the Arizona fine arts, theatre, and film landscape. Our goal is to make theatre accessible for everyone and to champion the telling of our stories. It is our goal to help normalize black and brown bodies on our stages and provide educational opportunities for BIPOC creatives to make theatre here in Arizona more equitable.

Breve descripción de la obra

“Los Últimos Cinco Años” es un musical emocional, que representa una verdad sobre algunas
relaciones bajo un microscopio. Esta historia sigue a dos neoyorquinos de veintitantos años
que se enamoran y se desenamoran durante los cinco años de la relación. La estructura de
esta función, consiste de un personaje que cuenta la historia cuando se acaba la relación,
mientras que el otro personaje lo cuenta cuando empieza la relación (cronológicamente.) La
orquestación y la letra de este musical, no oculta la triste realidad del amor perdido. El público
se quedará examinando sus propias relaciones, mientras viajamos con estos valientes
personajes.

United Colors of Arizona Theatre se compromete a servir a la gente BIPOC (personas de color)
dentro de la comunidad de teatro y cine aqui en Arizona. Nuestro objetivo es hacer que el teatro
sea accesible para todos, y sostener la narración de nuestras historias. Es nuestro objetivo
ayudar a normalizar los cuerpos de personas de color en nuestros escenarios, y brindar
oportunidades educativas para que los creativos de BIPOC, hagan que el teatro aquí en
Arizona sea más imparcial.
